There is no set age for children with crooked teeth to get braces; each child’s teeth are as unique as their personality. But when the time comes, Summer Kids Dental in Las Vegas is here to help.
When to actually get braces may vary from one child to the next. But children should have their teeth evaluated by the time they’re about seven. At that age, kids have lost at least some of their baby teeth, and their adult teeth are coming in. Even if they haven’t appeared they are going to be visible via x-rays.
Most kids have the majority of their adult teeth between the ages of eight and fourteen. By then we can identify any issues that may be present. These include:
- Teeth growing in crooked
- Overlapping teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Malocclusion (a bad bite)
Just because a child is evaluated by the age of eight doesn’t mean they’ll be getting braces right away, even if we identify a problem that early. But it gives us a heads-up, allowing us to decide the best time to begin treatment.
We have several orthodontic options for you to consider. We offer traditional metal bradces, and clear braces from Invisalign. We can help you determine which is best for your child.
At Summer Kids Dental in Las Vegas, we are committed to excellence in pediatric dentistry and to orthodontic care. Call our office to schedule an appointment for your child today.
